Nepal recently landed a spot on National Geographic Traveler's Cool List 2016. Editor Pat Riddell stated, "We’ve scoured the planet for this year’s must-see destinations and come up with an eclectic list of top spots for culture, cuisine, festive celebrations, pristine coastline… and places to go. Some are obvious, some not so, but we think they should be top of anyone’s travels plans in 2016 – and beyond."

Here is exciting news from Nepal! With the exception of Changu Narayan Temple, the Department of Archeaology has officially reopened all UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley. After the devastating Gorkha earthquake in April, this is a much needed step toward rebuilding the tourism industry.
An important update for travelers visiting Nepal: We have received information from Nepal Association of Tour Operators and the Civil Aviation Authority Nepal (CAAN) regarding charging of Nrs. 1000 as the Airport Development Fee (ADF) from all passengers above two years old, departing from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to all international sectors effective July 17, 2014. As per the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, a decision regarding the ADF had been taken by the country's aviation regulatory and facilitating authority.

Hello, travelers! Namaste from Nepal. We have been having an epic experience the past few days in the Kathmandu Valley. Nepal never ceases to amaze me - the warmth of the people are just a small part of what makes this Himalayan country so inviting. Kathmandu is a short flight from Delhi or Varanasi, making it an ideal excursion from India. (It is also easily accessible from Paro, Bhutan.) Here are a few highlights from the journey that I highly recommend to all of our Sodha Travelers:
Greetings, travelers! I am packing my bags and headed to India and Nepal tomorrow. Our last post highlighted the Sodha Travel team's suggestions on Places to Visit in India in 2014. Continuing with our series, we now journey to Nepal. Nepal is an enchanting kingdom, nestled in the Himalayas between China and India. For a small territory, the country boasts an uncommonly diverse terrain, including eight of the world's top 10 highest mountains. Nepali folklore is often illustrated in dance and music and the people are open to sharing their traditions. Although tourism is steadily increasing, Nepal's remote location has kept the culture widely unaffected from outside influences. Nepal was also listed on The New York Times 52 Places to Go in 2014.
"What do I pack when I travel?" We hope to help answer this frequently asked question with the information below. Here is our suggested packing list for India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan:
An important India visa update: Travelers on a Tourist visa were previously required to have a gap of at least two months between two separate visits to India. The restriction has now been lifted except for nationals of China, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, foreigners of Pakistan and Bangladesh. We see this as a positive amendment to the current policy, as previously the travelers would need to present the immigration officer with an exact itinerary and proof of onward travel upon re-entering India within two months of their last visit. As many of our clients include visits to Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, and return to India for their onward flight and/or continuation of travel, this change will result in less paperwork and less time to pass customs and immigration. Travisa Outsourcing will continue to process all visa applications, with the exception of emergency requests.
