Greetings, travelers! I am packing my bags and headed to India and Nepal tomorrow. I have been invited to attend the Incredible India Travel Bazaar (IITB) in Delhi, followed by some work and play in the Kathmandu Valley. Follow my journey by connecting with Sodha Travel on social media - I love to stay in touch with travelers during my adventures abroad!

After a brief stop in Delhi, I will take the short flight to Kathmandu, Nepal. I am lucky to have my lovely sister-in-law (and Sodha Travel Adviser) join me on this segment. The Kathmandu Valley, consisting of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, may have been inhabited as early as 900 BC. We will spend the first couple days viewing properties and touring the sites: Kumari Bahal, the Temple of the Living Goddess; Kasthamandap, the wooden house that gave Kathmandu its name; Durbar Square, the central area housing an array of temples; the Royal Palace, overlooked by the ancient Hanuman Dhoka; and Swayambhunath, the 2000 year old Buddhist stupa. We will also visit Pasupatinath, the famous Lord Shiva Temple and Hindu cremation ground, and Boudhnath, the 2500 year old Buddhist stupa. Oh - and there will also be plenty of shopping and eating, of course!

On Day 3, we will transfer from Kathmandu to Dhulikhel, en-route visiting Bhadgaon. Bhadgaon is known as Bhaktapur, or "the City of Devotees." We will explore the Nyatapola Temple, built by King Bhupatindra Malla and featuring the best example of Pagoda style temples. Dhulikhel is an ancient town famous for its scenic beauty and the traditional lifestyle of its people. I plan to sip some chai while sitting on my balcony and enjoy the panoramic views of the snowy ranges from Karyolung in the east to Himalchuli in the west.

After another day at leisure, time to hop back to Delhi for the IITB. I am looking forward to meeting with dozens of vendors and learning about new products covering heritage, adventure, wildlife, healthcare, leisure, and eco-tourism in India. The Indian tourism market is rapidly expanding and our team is excited to offer innovative services and experiences for our clients.

Be sure to stay in touch during my travels and send any suggestions for your favorite places to eat, dine and play in Delhi and Kathmandu! I look forward to connecting with you during my trip! - Allison Sodha
