CNN Features India's Heritage and Palace Hotels

I was thrilled to see CNN recently highlight the heritage and palace hotels of India. I was especially excited to see the Deogarh Mahal, a historic Mewar palace that is still partially occupied by the royal family - and one of my personal favorite heritage hotels in Rajasthan. The article, featured in CNN Business Traveler, also showcases the Umaid Bhavan in Jodhpur, Raj Palace in Jaipur, and Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad. Staying in a heritage or palace property allows travelers an authentic experience while also ensuring "the upkeep of some of the country's most spectacular historical buildings."

Although some palace properties are considered luxury and have a hefty cost, it is also important to note that many of the heritage hotels are affordable, especially when compared to other luxury hotels worldwide. Depending on the season and destination, several rooms at palaces can come under $125/night, including breakfast and taxes. The Deogarh Mahal is just one example of an Indian palace hotel that blends the modernity, history and luxury at an affordable rate.
