Start the tour in Delhi, India's capital and a bustling metropolis that incorporates the ancient with the modern. Then, board your train for Chandigarh, continuing by car to Nalagarh where you will stay overnight at the historic Nalagarh Fort (built in 1421). Continue to Manali, set amidst snowy peaks and forests of towering cedars. Then, drive to Jespa, a small village in the Lahaul region. The people of these villages have an intense love for their homeland and it is evident in their songs and dances.

After an overnight in Sarchu, arrive in Leh. Located at almost 12,000 feet, Leh was once the capital of the Himalayan Kingdom of Ladakh. Visit the nearby monasteries, including Shey, the 15th century summer palace and monastery that belongs to the royal family of Leh; Thiksey, an 800 year old gompa with panoramic views of the Indus valley; and Hemis, a monastery with architectural brilliance built in the 1600's. Then, continue to Sumoor Village and gaze south across the Indus Valley to the seamlessly endless peaks of the Zanskar Range.
