- DINE -

This month's dining recommendations are courtesy of Nikhil Merchant, a food columnist based in Mumbai.

Yauatcha
Mumbai's finest and most recent opened Michelin Star restaurant boasts of plush interiors, chic glitterati and fine cuisine. Yauatcha is a Chinese Tea & Dim Sum house, probably the only one-of-a-kind restaurant in Mumbai which caters to a discerning palate. Don't forget to sample their signature Macaroons on your way out. $$$$

Dum Pukht
Nestled in the suburbs of Mumbai, quite close to the international airport, the award winning restaurant – Dum Pukht at the I.T.C. Grand Maratha Hotel is a must visit anytime. Serving up authentic Indian cuisine fit for royalty, it is but an experience by itself. Indulge in traditional Indian dishes which are created with a special method involving cooking the food in heavy bottomed vessels which are sealed to intensify flavors of the dish by slow cooking. $$$

Gajalee
The original restaurant opened near the domestic airport near Vile Parle in Mumbai, and the new branch was conveniently opened near Mumbai's famous beach and residential area 'Juhu'. Gajalee is one of Mumbai's famous seafood restaurants serving fresh catch of the day and prepared Malvani style. Gorge on affordable Lobsters, Crabs and Pomfret cooked with Indian sauces, gravies or curries to suit your palate and indulge in a gastronomic affair which will show you the right way to enjoy seafood the Indian way. Quick service, open spaced ambiance and affordable. $$$

Soam
If you are looking at trying out safe, hygienic local cuisine and street food, then Soam (a vegetarian joint) is the place. A stone's throw away from the famed Queens Necklace which is Marine Drive, Soam serves up Mumbai's famous street food with much fanfare, including Pav Bhaji, Undhiyu (a winter vegetable concoction), Dhansaak (A famous Parsi dish) and street food such as Chaat's (Bhel, Sev Puri) and sugarcane juice. You will need to visit this place at least twice to try out most of the things on the menu. $$
