Destination: Leh/Ladakh

Ladakh is a remote region in Northern India, located between the Himalayan and Kunlin mountain ranges. The region is commonly called "Little Tibet" and many travelers have discovered this destination as an alternative to visiting the disputed territory of Tibet.

Fast Facts:

  • Former capital of Ladakh
  • Located at an altitude of over 11,500 ft
  • Boasts a strong religious co-existence of Tibetan Buddhism and Islam

Omasila
If you prefer opulent accommodations, don't let the 3* rating deter you from considering this hotel. Many celebrities have chosen Omasila, including Brad Pitt, who resided in Suite 21. Fresh fruits and vegetables are grown in the adjoining garden, and the hotel is one of the few in Leh that remains open year-round. Omasila was also a Travelers Choice 2012 Winner for Best Bargain Hotels in India.
