The Maldives

The Republic of Maldives is an oasis of paradise in the Indian ocean. 1,190 coral islands are spread over 26 atolls, which gives the Maldives its unique appearance. Long considered an exclusive vacation locale solely for the extremely wealthy, the Maldives is slowly becoming more popular among general travelers.  To visit these islands is to experience an untouched splendor of tranquility.

Day 1: Male

Welcome to the Maldives!  Your flight arrives in Male, the capital and center of trade, government, education and healthcare. Male, with a population of 75,000, is a small island buzzing with culture and activity. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the Mookai hotel. Located just minutes from the airport, the hotel is the newest property in Male and offers panoramic views of the outlying islands. Overnight in Male.

Day 2: Male—Kanuhura

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Male airport and board a 35 minute seaplane flight to Kanuhura. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your resort: One & Only Kanuhura. The resort  is located on one of the islands of Lhaviyani Atoll. Built on an atoll island with two beautiful island neighbors, One & Only Kanuhura is a very private hideaway with a wide range of relaxations, activities, sports, restaurants and bars. Close by are some of the world's best diving sites, with the outer reef dropping down nearly 2,000 meters.

The beauty of the tropical surroundings blends perfectly with the design of the accommodations.  All  villas and suites are fully air-conditioned, each with its own private veranda overlooking the sea, four-poster king-size bed, and open-air sunken bathtub and shower. Dining is a unique pleasure as a result of the variety of dishes offered at its three main restaurants: Thin Rah, Olive Tree and The Veli Café. Guests may also choose to dine in the privacy of their villa.

There are two tennis courts, an air-conditioned squash court, table-tennis and a volley-ball area close to the Watersports Center. The Watersports Center offers windsurfing, sailing, water-skiing, canoeing, catamaran trips and dolphin safaris at an extra cost.

The One and Only: Kanuhura also houses the Veyoge Spa, rated one of the finest in Maldives. The spa  has its own lavish pavilion, complete with a health and beauty center, aerobics, meditation and  personal trainers.  If requested, massage and body treatments can be arranged prior to your arrival at the resort.
